Surviving the Teenage Years
PTA Council Information & Tips for Parents of Teens
Underage Drinking is Risky Behavior That Affects Our Entire Community
Some parents believe that it’s safer for their teens to drink at home than to drink anywhere else. Other adults, including some parents, mistakenly think that underage drinking is part of growing up. If you think that underage drinking is OK, think again.Alcohol use by teens increases the risk of teen:
• Death from alcohol-related unintentional injuries, including motor vehicle crashes
• Injury
• Assault by another student who has been drinking
• Sexual assault or date rape
• Academic Problems
Most teens who drink get alcohol from “social sources” - at parties, from older friends, from their parents' cabinet. Teen drinking is linked to injury and risky behavior. We can reduce teen drinking by stopping teens' easy access to alcohol. Help us achieve this goal.
Don't serve alcohol to teens.
It's unsafe. It's illegal. It's irresponsible.
