AHS After Prom: Get Involved!

It might be January, but the planning of the AHS 2012 After Prom Party is well underway. 

Immediately following the prom, from midnight to 5a.m. on Sunday, May 5th, the 2012 After Prom Party will take place at Lifetime Fitness in Columbia. The party, sponsored by the AHS PTSA, is intended to provide a safe, alcohol and drug free place for our students to socialize and enjoy themselves after the prom. This year’s party will include first run movies, live bands, air brush tattoo artists, video game stations, inflatable games, copious amounts of food, door prizes, and much more.  Grand prizes have yet to be purchased, but in past years they have included iPods, iPod touches, flat screen TVs, video cameras, Wii gaming systems, PS3’s, GPS’s, and much more.

After Prom Party tickets are sold separately from prom tickets allowing all AHS juniors and seniors the opportunity to attend the party whether or not they plan on attending the prom.  It is also open to prom guests that are not AHS students.  
The value of After Prom Parties cannot be overstated.  The parties have been unbelievably successful in helping to reduce or eliminate car accidents and other unfortunate incidents which historically occur on prom night.  Last year over 450 students attended the AHS 2011 After Prom Party.

A successful After Prom Party requires the efforts of many volunteers and donations.  Volunteers are needed now to help in the planning stage as well as during the event. Both underclassmen and upperclassmen parent volunteers are needed to assist with door prizes, food and beverages, publicity, ticket sales, decorations, coat check, and registration to name a few.  You choose your area of interest and we will find a spot for you. If you would like to help, but cannot volunteer your time, please consider making a donation. Individual and corporate donations are always appreciated. Forms are available below:

Checks made payable to AHS PTSA can be dropped off in the front office, or mailed to Atholton High School After Prom Party, 6520 Freetown Road, Columbia, Maryland, 21044. If you prefer to use a credit card you can do so by clicking on the paypal link below.
