Board Approves Formula for High School Capacities

The Board of Education approved a formula for determining high school capacities at its March 26 regular meeting. The new formula considers the number of actual teaching stations, the size of core spaces such as cafeterias and hallways, and assigns a utilization factor of either 80% or 85% depending on each school’s educational program area. The revised formula results in an increase of system capacity of over 900 seats and could delay redistricting for most high schools for up to 6 years.

The Atholton PTSA was in favor of the new formula.
